Station Hope

Cleveland Public Theater’s Station Hope is a jubilant community event celebrating Cleveland’s social justice heritage and exploring contemporary struggles for freedom and equity. Engaging with over 200 artists and 50+ community and professional arts & culture organizations from across Northeast Ohio as they envision, interrogate, and seek out hope on the grounds of Cleveland’s first authenticated Underground Railroad site, St. John’s Episcopal Church. CPT is one of the places I volunteer and this is one of two of their big annual events, back live for the first time in three years.

May 25, 2022 we had a meeting of all of the volunteers in anticipation of the event. It was nice to see some old friends and get out on a perfect weather day. After the meeting, I had a burger and beer at a local neighborhood restaurant. Simply a delightful evening!

May 28, 2022 was the day of the event. It could not have been a more perfect weather day! About ten times a year we get San Diego weather and this was one of those days.

I was an outdoor greeter (because I preferred to work unmasked) at one of the performance halls. Really, there is not much of a story but I was happy, people were happy to be outside, to be at the event, to be entertained in a meaningful fashion.

I simply enjoy being somewhere where something is happening. I enjoy being around people in a joyful circumstance. I love the acceptance I receive. I am truly blessed!
